CRM Tips & Tricks

For any doubters out there, I covered why a CRM is invaluable to your business in a previous blog post, “Converting CRM critics into champions”.  With that done already, let’s jump straight into a few tips & tricks on how to get the most from your CRM:

  • There’s no time like the present

    • In the early stages of your business, when the intake of new contacts, prospects & opportunities is manageable, the belief that a CRM is not yet necessary is understandable. In our experience, this is precisely the time to invest the time in your CRM strategy. Think of it as future-proofing: as your companies grow, it becomes more and more difficult to centralise and streamline your communications with potential and existing customers. Do it now, and save yourself the time and energy down the track. 

    • All businesses evolve, no matter how well established: new products and services, an increase in headcount and a market in flux, to name a few. Revisiting your strategy and updating your CRM to reflect these changes is critical. 

  • Adoption is key

    • This is a biggie. There is no point in investing in software if your team simply isn't using it. A mantra we have at Vollardian is, “If it’s not in your CRM, it didn’t happen.” Encourage your team to see the CRM as a real-time tracking tool by using it in all internal catch-ups. Once a team is fully onboard, trust us, you will see the difference in motivation and performance. 

  • “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” 

    • Change fast, but only make changes that are needed. The data will speak for itself and guide you as to what CRM processes or metrics need to be tweaked. 

  • Ask for help

    • You’ll be amazed at how simple tweaks within your CRM can help you track & close deals. No one is better placed to help than your sales team. Ask for their input - what is working for you? How are you using the CRM? How could it make your job easier?
